There’s a Dance for Everything – Across the Border!
Javier Juarez dances with boundless energy, dramatic rhythm, and fluid natural grace and poise. This summer he’s performing “Across the Border,” a program of traditional folklore dances native to various regions of Mexico, in venues throughout south Louisiana, including West Baton Rouge. “Across the Border” is an exciting program of beautiful dance performed in gorgeous costumes with explanations of the origins and importance of the dances in Mexican culture.
In Mexico there is a dance for everything. Mexicans dance when they are happy and celebrating, when they are sad and mourning, when they are hopeful and in love or broken hearted. No matter what is happening, there is always dance to express ones feelings.
Javier Juarez performed with the National Folkloric Ballet of Mexico before emigrating to the United States and establishing his dance studio in Slidell, Louisiana. He has taught thousands of students and has become an ambassador for dance and Mexican culture, performing in schools and the Jazz and Heritage Festival, in libraries, on Carnival Cruise Ships, and Disney World in Orlando, Florida. His artistry has been recognized by the Louisiana Division of the Arts which selected him for Louisiana Artist Roster and by the Consulate of Mexico in New Orleans which selected him for the Guillermo De Bango Excellence in Arts award.
