Kuniko Yamamato Details:

She’s the Very Best. A Must See.

Kuniko Yamamoto has many talents.  One of them is captivating her audience with her dramatic performance of Japanese folk tales and fables. Kuniko makes her performance appealing to all ages by enhancing it with traditional Japanese music and dance, mime and magic, and her intricately folded origami objects and hand-crafted character masks.  All of these arts she beautifully choreographs into her storytelling.  Her performance is truly amazing. And as she entertains she also informs her audiences about fascinating aspects of Japanese culture.

Kuniko has been featured twice as a main storyteller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesboro, Tennessee.  She is also regularly featured at the Japanese Pavilion of Disney’s Epcot Park and the Imagination Celebration Series at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.  During her twenty-five-year storytelling career, Kuniko has performed at hundreds of schools and colleges throughout the country. She has performed in West Baton Rouge several times.  This is Kuniko’s last storytelling tour.  We wish her well in her new role as the founder and director of the Origami Air Art Studio in Sarasota, Florida.  We will miss her, but she leaves us with many good memories of her heartfelt stories. Born in Japan, Kuniko is a naturalized American      citizen.
