Application Process

  1. Download and complete the application in its entirety.
  2. Sign the form.

Eligibility: Residents of West Baton Rouge Parish

Adults (14+)

  • Adult cards are issued to people age 14 and up who live, work or go to school in West Baton Rouge Parish.
  • A valid Louisiana driver’s license or identification card with current address is required when applying for a new card, a replacement card, or when renewing an expired card.
  • Students age 14 and up that don’t have a driver’s license can use a school identification and any piece of mail with parent’s name and address for proof of identification.
  • Applicants with dual residency that do not have valid Louisiana identification should be referred to the Director.
  • Applicants who live in the parish but do not have a driver’s license or identification card with current address must present both of the following items:
    1. Valid driver’s license or identification card.
    2. Piece of mail, paycheck stub, bank statment or letter from landlord with name and current address.
  • Applicants who do not live but work in the parish must present both of the following items:
    1. Valid Louisiana driver’s license or identification card with current address.
    2. Letterhead from employer or business card or paycheck stub.
  • Applicants who cannot provide proof of address can do the following:
    1. Apply for a library card with a two (2) item check out restriction.
    2. The library card is mailed to the address provided on the applicant’s registration card.
    3. When the library card is received by the patron and brought to the library the restriction is removed.

 

Juveniles

  • Juvenile cards are issued to children from birth through age 13 provided the parent/guardian assumes responsibility for materials checked out.

  • Child must live or go to school in the Parish, or parent/guardian must live or work in the Parish.
  • The parent/guardian must have a valid Louisiana driver’s license or identification card with current address for proof of identity when applying for their child’s new card, replacement card, or when renewing an expired card.
  • Parent/guardian must sign the child’s application card.
  • Children whose parents live in the parish but do not have a driver’s license or identification card with current address must present both of the following items:
    1. Valid driver’s license or identification card.
    2. Any piece of mail, paycheck stub, bank statement or letter from landlord with name and current address.
  • Children who do not live in the parish but are a student at any West Baton Rouge Parish school must present one of the following items:
    1. Lunch card OR
    2. Library verification slip signed by school official.
  • Children who do not have the above qualifications and whose parent/guardian do not have a valid Louisiana driver’s license or identification card with current address can do the following:
    1. Apply for a library card with a two (2) item check out restriction.
    2. The library card is mailed to the address provided on the child’s registration card.
    3. When the library card is received by the child or parent/guardian and brought to the library the restriction is removed.

Eligibility: Residents of East Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee, or Iberville Parish

Adults (14+)

  • Applicants from these parishes may obtain a West Baton Rouge Parish library card by presenting both of the following items:
    1. Permission slip from their parish library.
    2. Valid Louisiana driver’s license or identification card with current address.
  • Applicants who do not have both of the above qualifications can do the following:
    1. Apply for a library card with a two (2) item check out restriction.
    2. The library card is mailed to the address provided on the applicant’s registration card.
    3. When the library card is received by the patron and brought to the library, the restriction is removed.

Juveniles

  • Children from these parishes may obtain a West Baton Rouge Parish library card by presenting both of the following items:
    1. Permission slip from their parish library.
    2. Parent’s valid Louisiana driver’s license or identification card with current address.

Eligibility: Guest Passes

Just Visiting the Library?

You may use our patron computer workstations with a guest pass! You’ll need your driver’s license showing that you don’t live in West Baton Rouge parish to receive a guest pass. If you reside in West Baton Rouge parish, we will ask that you sign up for a library card.
